India: Images From Week 1

-S

Well, hello everyone!

I made it here safely and have been having a great time! We are here in New Delhi and getting ready to head to Srinagar tomorrow morning. We stayed in New Delhi longer than anticipated because of some political stuff going on in Srinagar, so luckily we ended up near internet access the last couple days.So far it seems our traveling will be safe for tomorrow. If I have the means to keep you updated I sure will!

I have been having trouble uploading photos, so I will post images as I can!

Here are the streets in Old Delhi. We were told this WASN'T crowded. Crazy...

Because there is a language barrier here photography has been a great way for me to interact with the people. I think they understand me telling them they are beautiful. After I take their picture a lot of the people here want to see the picture on the back on the camera. One older woman I showed her image to ran both her hands down the side of my face and then brought her fingertips to her lips and then motioned them towards me. Sometimes words just can't encase all we are wanting to say. Seeing her happy eyes told me everything she wanted to communicate to me.

I will post more images as I can!

Sarah-wow! Powerful images. I like the woman in front of the Taj Majal--gives so much depth to the photo. You are SO talented! This series shows that you are a masterful storyteller with your camera in any situation.
