So did anyone see the sky last night? The sun rays were incredible!!! I was running around like crazy trying to get my AP Art kids' portfolios done, but I made myself stop along the road and take a few shots. ~E
Here's one of my favorites - still looked better in real life.
This weekend was the best! Saturday my husband and I drove up to Maynard, IA to help my grandfather celebrate his 98th birthday. What a special man! He is one of the wisest men I know and has the best memory in the world. He could tell you where every person in his county has ever lived, how many acres they owned, how many cows they milked, when they died, and who lives there now. Have you ever been to a birthday celebration of someone that old? He was born in 1910! Holy cats, he knows a lot of people! One man asked him why turning 98 was so great... because there's not much peer pressure.
For years my grandpa walked to the gas station for breakfast so the station has now become the annual banquet room for his birthday celebrations. Here's the kids making the most of the occasion.
After the birthday party I hurried home so I could see my brother's grand march for his senior prom. Since we've been waiting for beautiful weather for so long, I just loved how blue the sky was and how bright green the grass was on my drive home. I love the drive between Anamosa and Wyoming. At the top of the hills you can see forever! I stopped several times along the highway to capture what I saw, but these don't serve justice to the view!
I loved seeing all the newest dresses at my brother's prom and who when with who this year. I never heard anything about his girlfriend's dress but I knew it'd be incredible - her sense of fasion is so sheek yet creative. I know I'm a bit biased, but I thought her dress (and her entire get-up was gorgeous - the hair, makeup, jewelry) was the prettiest one. When they walked out, I honestly didn't pay much attention to my brother, but afterwards I saw how handsome he was and what an awesome tux he had - very modern. His lady must have picked it out!
I know these are similar, but I like each one for a different reason.
She had this dress sewn to her measurements from a company in China!
Guess what it cost her? $10!!! No joke!
And $100 to ship... That's still better than the $1000 ones my brother said some girls bought! Are they nuts???
I love my brother's shadow in this one.
These are some images from mushroom hunting. We only found a few so I might have to take another trip home.
May apples are a sure sign of mushroom season...
This is a view from where I want to build my dream house. You can see the farm where I grew up.
I took these to possibly use on some cards I'm designing.
With all the rusty textures you can find on a farm - Sarah should join me next time!
And a few other random farm shots.
This one reminds me of Andy Warhol.
